GET TO KNOW: CHIARA BALLARD

Get to know Chiara Ballard, the adventurous antique car enthusiast from Reston, Virginia.

How were you scouted by The Brick?

I was scouted on Instagram by a photographer who is a Brick scout.

What about modeling interests you?

One of my favorite things about modeling is being able to meet so many different types of people in the same field. I also love how every photographer has their own style and ability to make you look completely different than anyone else.

What do you enjoy doing outside of modeling?

I enjoy lots of different activities outside of modeling. For one, I enjoy cars, specifically working on antique cars. My dad is definitely always there to help, but everything he’s taught me has made me able to problem solve and (usually) succeed when there’s an issue with my car/ someone else’s. I also adore museums, and if I’m ever staying in a new place, I always go to that city’s art museums since seeing art from different countries/cultures is super interesting.

What’s something people may be surprised to learn about you?

I think people are usually surprised to hear that I haven’t always lived in America. I consider myself very much an American now, but I grew up living in Tunisia, Portugal, and Italy because of my dad’s career at the time.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I’m not horrible at ventriloquy… but don’t ever give me a dummy and put me on a stage.

Where do you hope modeling will take you in life?

My main objective for modeling is to feel like I have done almost, if not everything, the industry has to offer. I also hope to become a more well-rounded person by traveling to new places as much as possible and meeting many different people. When I am done with modeling, my goal is to feel fulfillment in my career and continue on in pursuing my next passion.

What photographer do you hope to work with in the future?

I would love to work with Jonathan Zaoui if I’m ever in Los Angeles because his pictures always have so much personality and come out so beautiful.

Do you have any heroes?

My heroes are definitely my parents because of how they have both managed to support my siblings and I our whole lives despite so many obstacles. I admire my dad’s work ethic and my mom’s amazing attitude even during times of difficulty. I am so grateful to have had them as guides throughout my life.

How would you describe your personality?

I would say I’m independent, kind, hard-working, and a bit shy & quiet at first.

What inspires you?

Seeing other people succeed in their goals makes me believe I can too.

What’s the most difficult thing you’ve ever done?

I think the most physically difficult thing I’ve ever done was whp sea fishing in Barbados and I had a 100 pound Wahoo on the line. I was 13 at the time and unfortunately, the line snapped and I lost the fish after a 30-minute fight.

What is something new that you want to try?

I really want to try rug making, cake decorating, and learning how to use a sewing machine!

What are a few of your favorite things?

Jewelry, cars, tea, hot showers, flowers, vampire fiction.

Is there anything else we should know about you?

I’m a Ravenclaw.
